Many genealogists are already using AI—but often in one-off, ad-hoc ways that don’t scale or consistently save time. This Genealogy Cafe will focus on how experienced genealogists can operationalize AI as a research accelerator by developing reusable prompt libraries, layered prompt structures, and workflow-based strategies that support sound genealogical methodology. Rather than teaching AI tools or basics, the discussion will explore how prompt design, reuse, and guardrails can improve efficiency, consistency, and analytical rigor across common genealogical tasks. This discussion assumes prior hands-on experience using AI and is intended to explore professional-level practices rather than introductory concepts.
Established in 2020, The Genealogy Café is a monthly member-exclusive event. It began with the goal of ensuring members had the opportunity to engage with each other more frequently. The CAPG quarterly meetings often focus on chapter business and presentations but don’t offer an opportunity to network. Topics are directed by membership and focus on business management, professional presentations, certification, accreditation, and of course networking. For more information on becoming a member, contact us. Members will automatically receive an invitation to join via Zoom.
